Victor Sidy Architect is a full-service architectural practice for specialized building and planning projects.
In the fall of 2000, Victor Sidy opened his design practice in an updated 1880’s crackerjack loft in historic McKinney, Texas. Working collaboratively with other artists, architects, engineers, contractors, and developers, the practice celebrated the act of making as the departure point for design. Subsequently relocating to New York City, designs for education and the arts become core areas of focus, including Montessori school projects in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Texas – a number of which have been built.
The work of the collaborative practice soon appeared and was featured in media such as the New York Times, Interiors Magazine, Blueprint Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, CNN International, the Home and Garden Network, and the Discovery Channel. In 2005, Sidy was appointed dean of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture (now the School of Architecture at Taliesin) in Scottsdale, Arizona and Spring Green, Wisconsin. The practice expanded to include projects with students and faculty, including the prototype Mod.Fab project, which was recognized as “Green Architecture Project of the Year” by TIME magazine and “Best Green Home of the Year” by Sunset Magazine. As dean, Sidy also became a more vocal advocate for design quality in the built environment, a cause that has included advocacy for environmentally sensitive design, the innovative reuse of historic structures, and walkable community development.
In 2015, Sidy returned fully to private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, with advocacy and education core to the practice. Now working on projects that span the continuum between for-profit development and non-profit education, all the projects tell stories – of the visionary ideas of our clients, of the practical issues the designs solve, of the history of the communities they serve, of the craftspeople building the structures.
Victor Sidy, AIA LEED AP, is an architect, planning/development consultant, educational leader, and advocate for quality in the built environment. He received his architectural training from the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture after receiving the Flinn Foundation Scholarship and Robert C. Byrd Scholarship. He has worked with artists, architects, and planners in Russia, the Netherlands, France, Vietnam, and throughout the United States. Mr. Sidy hosted a television series on architecture for EMG Satellite Television that aired from 1996 to 1998 and was the youngest member of Architecture Magazine’s 1999 feature “Young Americans.”
